Clifford P. Case Seminar Room

Clifford Case began to donate his Congressional papers to Rutgers University Libraries in 1961. After leaving the Senate in 1979, Case was given the opportunity to keep his office furniture. Reportedly, the massive desk, leather sofa, chairs, tables, and cabinets did not fit into the Senator's Georgetown house, so Ruth Case arranged for them to be shipped to Rutgers. The furniture, photographs, and memorabilia eventually became part of the original Clifford P. Case  Room, which was dedicated on April 24, 1985, with Mrs. Case in attendance. The room was used for meetings and classes, as well as more formal occasions. As Ruth Case wrote, "It is good to know the room is being used. Buddy would love that part especially." In 1993, with the renovation of the Alexander Library, the Case Room was moved to its present location. By 2004, it showed signs of wear. This most recent renovation and the installation of the permanent exhibition in October of 2006, will help a new generation better understand Clifford Case's life and legacy.
